  • Offers free services and counseling to families and friends of those suffering with any
    form of dementia.

  • Offers free literature related to dementia.

  • May offer funding for sitting services for those who meet certain financial criteria.

  • Offers care-giver training courses.

  • Can provide families with a list of Care-Giver Support Groups.

  • Can provide information on Safe Return, which is a national identification program for
    those who might wander off (this program may be free in some states).


Elder Law Attorneys

  • Specialize in meeting the needs of seniors and their families.

  • Can draw up the needed documents that every adult should have: an Estate Will, Living
    Will, and Powers of Attorney.

  • Can guide families with regard to guardianship issues.

  • Can provide Medicaid and financial planning specifically tailored to the individual state
    rules and regulations.


Care Managers

May charge families hourly rates or be paid directly by facilities. They may assist families with
such things as:

  • Research for housing.

  • Referrals of doctors, hospitals and elder law attorneys.

  • Obtaining information on available funding sources.

  • Coordination of doctors and their prescribed medications.

  • Choosing appropriate in-home services.

  • Managing checking accounts and paying bills.
